Existing-model branding, specified production and new-shape development: agree the scope before the order.
Private label, OEM and ODM can be used differently across enquiries. At Jupeng, we discuss the actual model, changes, artwork and tooling so the quote describes the work you want to do.
From stock models to fully engineered designs — three ways to work with a factory
Private Label
An existing model can carry your logo, colour and packing without a new body mould. The catalogue lists 423 models; the quotation confirms the minimum and decoration for your selected model.
OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)
OEM is broader: the factory manufactures to your specification. In practice for drinkware it usually means an existing or lightly modified design built to your requirements — your colours, lid, capacity mix, print and packaging. More customisation than plain private label, still typically without full new tooling.

ODM (Original Design Manufacturer)
A new shape begins with a concept, drawing or reference. Before sharing design files, agree in writing who may access them, how they may be used, and who owns or may use any commissioned tooling. Any confidentiality terms are set out in the project agreement.
ODM means new mould tooling engineered for your design
Which Route Is Right?
Existing model: develop the logo, colours and packing without a new body mould
Built to your spec, still efficient: OEM
Before sharing design files, agree in writing who may access them, how they may be used, and who owns or may use any commissioned tooling. Any confidentiality terms are set out in the project agreement.
An existing model, a custom finish and box, or a newly developed shape are different project scopes. Describe the changes you need so the quotation and sample cover the same brief.
We can help with each route. Tell us the product idea, budget and date so the existing-model and development options can be compared.
Frequently asked questions
How should I choose between private label, OEM and ODM?▾
Private label usually starts from an existing model and adds agreed branding or packing. OEM follows a buyer's product specification; ODM includes new design development. Compare the model, tooling scope, approvals and packing before choosing a route.
What belongs in an ODM tooling scope?▾
List the design work, drawings or 3D references, mould parts, sample stages, approval points and costs. Record how the design files and tooling may be used before development starts.
Which references should I share for a new drinkware concept?▾
Send a sketch or product reference, target capacity and dimensions, lid or opening needs, intended use, logo area, quantity range and destination. These details help define the initial design discussion.
How should I review a change after the sample is made?▾
Record the requested change against the approved drawing, artwork or sample. Confirm any effect on tooling, decoration, packing, cost and schedule before the revised reference is approved.
Which items should an OEM quotation list separately?▾
Ask the quotation to identify the model specification, colour treatment, logo method, packing, tooling if needed and shipping basis. That makes later changes easier to compare against the agreed brief.
When does an existing model suit the order better than a new design?▾
We can help with each route. Tell us the product idea, budget and date so the existing-model and development options can be compared.
What is the difference between Private Label, ODM and custom OEM tooling in drinkware manufacturing?▾
Private label applies your logo, Pantone colour and retail box to our existing in-stock or open moulds (MOQ 500 pcs); ODM customises lids, sleeves or finishes on existing bodies; OEM builds bespoke body or lid tooling to your 3D CAD drawing.
Which sales representative should I contact for samples, mock-ups or a quotation on this topic?▾
