How to Make Custom Cups and Mugs for Your Brand

Seven steps from idea to sea freight, written by the people who run the production line.

Start with the body, artwork, colours, lid, accessories and packing, then agree the proof and physical sample before bulk production. The applicable minimum depends on the selected model, colour and decoration; a new shape has a separate tooling plan and quote. The guide below shows how we bring those choices together.

Step 1 — Pick the base model

Start with the use, capacity and carrying style. Compare single-wall, double-wall non-vacuum and vacuum models, then shortlist two or three from coffee mugs, tumblers or sport bottles. The guide to double-wall vs single-wall explains the construction options.

Step 2 — Choose the logo method to match your artwork

Silk screen can suit one to three spot colours; laser gives a single-tone mark on suitable surfaces. UV and heat transfer can suit photographic or wraparound artwork on compatible bodies. See our printing methods guide, then send the file so we can confirm the layout, setup and cost.

Step 3 — Colours: stock vs Pantone

The applicable minimum depends on the selected model, colour and decoration. Ask about combining stock colours for the selected model. Compare powder coating vs spray painting with the model’s care guidance, and include any required cleaning routine in the brief.

Step 4 — Lid, straw and accessories

Choose the lid, straw, handle or carrying loop alongside the body. We can compare the available combinations and colours on a sample, then keep the approved parts with the order reference.

Step 5 — Packaging: from white box to retail-ready

A plain white box, printed colour box or gift box can be discussed with the chosen model and shipment. The packaging guide shows options. Send any insert artwork, label files and FBA carton requirements so we can confirm the applicable preparation before packing. our packaging guide

Step 6 — Agree the proof and physical sample

Timing depends on the selected model, artwork and sample approvals, quantity, packing and shipping route. Share the date you are working toward and we’ll confirm a schedule for the sample, production and delivery stages of your order.

Unit cost depends on the actual model, construction, artwork, quantity and packing. An existing model usually avoids a new body mould; any decoration setup is quoted. A new shape has a separate tooling quote, with the guide’s indicative US$2,000–3,000 per part subject to the drawing and development plan.
We can discuss a new shape from your drawing or reference. The indicative mould guide starts around US$2,000–3,000 per part, with the actual tooling, ownership agreement and schedule confirmed in the development quote.
Vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) work best for silk screen. High-resolution PNG or TIFF works for UV printing and sublimation. If you only have a low-res logo, the factory art team can usually redraw it before proofing.
