If you're buying insulated water bottles in bulk, the difference between a good deal and a costly mistake comes down to a few things: the right insulation type, realistic MOQ, transparent tier pricing, and a factory that handles your branding and shipping properly. The three places it hides
Water and residue collect where a brush cannot reach and air cannot dry. On a bottle that is three places, in this order of frequency:

Why the mouth width matters more than any marketing claim. A wide mouth — 50 mm or more — lets a hand or a brush reach the base and lets the interior air-dry between uses. Below about 35 mm neither is possible. A narrow-neck bottle cannot be properly cleaned whatever the label says — and it dries slowly, which is what turns residue into mould.
What to check on a sample before you approve it: take the lid apart. Can the gasket be lifted out with a fingernail? Does the straw detach? Can you see and reach the bottom of the body? If the answer to any of those is no, that is the complaint your customers will send you in six months, and it is designed in — not a manufacturing fault.
Vacuum-Insulated vs Single-Wall — Know What You're Buying
Only double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless steel bottles keep drinks hot or cold for hours. Single-wall stainless bottles are lighter and cheaper, but they don't insulate. When a wholesale quote looks unusually low, this is often why — confirm the construction before you compare prices.

Because the residue is not on the walls. It collects under the lid gasket and in the lid threads, where a rinse never reaches and air never dries. A bottle can look spotless and still smell. The fix is structural: a removable gasket, a coarse thread profile and a wide mouth.
Take the lid fully apart — lift out the gasket, detach the straw — and clean each part separately with a brush; soaking the assembled bottle does very little. Then let everything air-dry completely before reassembling, because trapped moisture is what lets it come back. If the gasket cannot be removed, the honest answer is that the bottle cannot be fully cleaned.
